Southern Division Supporters

Since Southern Division was hosted in Mississippi in 2012, our Student Subunit was very involved in fundraising, obtaining items for the silent auction and raffle, and coordinating student events.

The AFS Southern Division meeting brings together several hundred fisheries professionals and students representing a variety of backgrounds—including academic, state, federal and private institutions—from thirteen states and over twenty universities throughout the southeastern U.S.  The goal of the meeting is to exchange ideas and research results pertaining to management of aquatic resources.  Although held annually, each state has the opportunity to host the Southern Division meeting only once every thirteen years.  Therefore, this meeting was a rare occasion for our Student Subunits to gain positive exposure in the region and earn funds to support future endeavors.  As students and future colleagues, our Student Subunits proudly collaborated with each other in fundraising and in other volunteer activities to support the Southern Division meeting.
